Annual Report (2019-20)

With these thoughts in mind, we all team members of SSIS stand with lot of confidence, hope, innovative thoughts, smart actions and commitment to work and accountability for the learning of our students.

 We are proud while preparing Annual Report (2019-20) that our school has attained success in its budding years. We take an opportunity to allocate the years updates of activities conducted in the year (2019-20).

SSIS was established not only to facilitate the region with a good school, but at the same time it had better aims and objectives. It aspires for noble cause. SSIS ideally situated on Chandigarh- Ambala highway; set up in the year 1989 is the first educational venture of well known and reputed Sukhmani Group of Institutions, DeraBassi. The school is running classes from Pre-nursery to XII, imparting holistic education in a congenial, invigorating environment, where the learners realize their potential and grow up to be responsible citizens and global readers. The motto of the school is ‘service before self’. The school management has always been making a sincere and dedicated endeavours to keep this motto aloft in every activity of the school.

Excellent Infrastructure-

SSIS is always in pursuit of providing top class infrastructure for all the students. The school has all that which requires totransform the child into ‘a model of excellence’. The infrastructure of the school is fully equipped with massive and aesthetic building structure, well ventilated and spacious classrooms, digitally equipped learning methods, green meadows, activity rooms, swimming pool, cricket net practice area, labs and library display boards help in visual learning and many more that children experience with a lot of enthusiasm and curiosity. School has its own fleet of busses for transportation of day boarders for various pic-up points around DeraBassi. Female peons, GPS facility is there for the safety of children. Safety of students being the utmost priority, CC cameras are installed all around the school, to keep the whole campus under safe surveillance. All these facilities helped us to achieve a lot and more forward collecting success stories through the journey.

The Curriculam-

SSIS follows the latest teaching learning methods to make class rooms learning more interesting and enduring. We follow all the rules and norms of CBSE. We tailor made the teaching learning methods to be culturally sensitive, to identify learners strengths and limitations.

Sharing our success stories-

School has conducted a number of scholastic competitions like elocution, story making, show and tell, poem recitation, GK quiz, enactment, collage making, calligraphy competition, debate, NIE quiz, making new words and sentences etc.

Co-curricular activities-

Keeping this view in mind, school has organized a number of co-curricular activities. It gives the students an opportunity to develop particular skills and exhibit their non academic abilities. Various events, functions were also held throughout the session. We believe that each child is unique and possesses internal potential. Under co-scholastic category we had organized competitions like drawing, painting, colouring, dancing, singing, acting, idol making, running races, skating, football matches, cricket matches, fun games, salad competition, chess competition, art& craft work, drama, play etc.

Special functions and events were also celebrated during the session, students participated in all events. They learnt new things. They participated in the functions like Basantpanchmi, sukhmani path, labour day, Mothers day, Teej celebration, Janmashtami celebration, Diwali, Independence Day, Republic Day, Teacher’s Day, SaragarhiDiwas, Sports day, Gandhi Jayanti, Hindi Diwas, Yoga Day etc.

Students also participated in Inter House activities throughout the session.

Students also participated in Inter school competition like Debate, Maths Quiz, Science Quiz etc.

Election Booth was set up in the school ground so that students may know the whole process of election. They participated in the activity ‘My Vote, My Power’.

Winter Carnival –

All roads to the school for participation in the fun and frolic filled winter carnival. The carnival brought together the Sukhmanians, Parents, Staff, Managementto enjoy the event. Students participated in various Dance forms, Singing, Play and Shabad.

Hub Activities –

Children participated in Taekwondo as hub activity organized at SSIS.

Students participated in Debate competition organized at Bhartiya Public School at Derabassi.

Buddy Group – School has formed Buddy Group as per instructions of District Education Officer. All the class teachers had framed Buddy Groups in their classes. Various activities were taken through out the session. Nodal officer and team members properly guided the teachers regarding the concept.

Buddy Group Activities Report –

NukkadNatak was performed at primary school, Govt. College on Republic Day to deliver the message to keep their family/parents away from drugs.

Students were taken to Lalru and Mubarikpur to familiar them with the students of Govt. Schools.

To bring the positive attitude among the students message was delivered by Nodal officers Mr. Anil Kumar on BasantPanchmi.

Students participated in meditation, yoga activities to channelize their energy.

Mr. Yashpal Rana delivered a lecture on cancer awareness on 21stoct, 2019.

Students were taken to smart classroom to show documentary on ‘Say no to Plastic’.

Oath was taken by the students & teachers to save water (Keep India Green and Healthy Atmosphere).

Special group counseling was done in classes (7th to 12th) students who are crossing through teenage group. 

Special assembly was organized for all the students. Principal made aware them about their vital role in creating healthy atmosphere in the society.

All the students participated in above activities under Buddy Group, it will surely help them to create a positive attitude in peer group. They can bring improvement in themselves and in their friends circle or peer group.

Workshop/Training for Teachers –

All the teachers attended a number of trainings and workshops pertaining to their subject, core skills, personality development, class management, aggression among children etc.

Shining Stars of SSIS –

In the academic session (2019 – 2020) students have shown astonishing progress. They have brought laurels to the school by their brilliant performance.

Honour of Award-

Worthy Principal Ms. Poonam Sharma has been conferred ‘Global Educator Award’ by AMITY institute, Singapore for her immense contribution in the field of education.

Glittering School Achievements-

We have students who participated and won gold, silver and bronze medals, participation certificates, consolation prizes in the field of sports and other activities and competitions.

  • JashanpreetDhiman bagged Gold medal in Nepal at World Taekwondoo Championship.
  • Pushpinder bagged silver medal at Kolkata in open International Championship.
  • Navkirat Kaur bagged bronze medal at Kolkata in an open International Championship.
  • Pushpinder and Navkirat players of Taekwandoo get consolation prizes by the chief guest in the Republic Day function for their extraordinary achievements in sports field.
  • 6 students from classes VII and VIII got school bags for their best participation in BYJU’s Aptitude exam conducted by Times of India.
  • Supratim got 25th All India Rank in All India Maths and Science Talent examination. He bagged consolation school topper prize.
  • Mehak Sharma and Mannat clinched Gold medal for their superb performance in All India Maths and Science Talent examination.
  • Tusharika, Yugank, Avika got participation certificates in Inter School Declamation competition held at Bhartiya Public School, DeraBassi.
  • Sukhmanians clinched Gold medal in 800 m by winning first position and bronze in 100 m by winning third position in an open Athletic Meet held at Govt. College, DeraBassi.

Every effort is made to instill in the children the independence of thought,  action,  and self confidence. All of us will definitely remember that we have a long way to go and have milestones to cross. Many more successes to be achieved.
